Derez De’Shon is Southern Rap, and he’s only gonna get bigger. His melodic “struggle raps” have made him a fan-favorite on the scene, amongst a few others on the cusp of a breakthrough in the year 2018, respectfully.
Derez’s formula is simple, speak about the struggle. At least that’s what we’ve received from his debut tape Pain, the 18-track offering majority produced by Atlanta hitmaker London On Da Track. “Pain,” laced with more than a few street bangers, such as “Hardaway,” “Fed Up,” “Lord Forgive Me,” and “P.I.L,” all detail the lifestyle and conditions through the eyes of De’Shon living on the Soufside, Clayton County, also referred to as Jurassik Park or “land of the lost.”
Today Derez serves up the visual for the breakthrough smash “Hardaway,” which has cameos from Waka Flocka, DJ Envy, Ralo, and Birdman to name a few. One line about “looking for Charlamagne” may have unintentionally helped gain the attention of The Breakfast Club co-star, DJ Envy, to cosign the record. “Hardaway” is a celebration for the streets, which turns into an unfortunate situation. The good one always die in the end.
Why Derez De’Shon will win in 2018, it’s because he speaks a language only those who’ve been through struggle can understand. “Hardaway” is the street anthem for all go-getters who don’t mind getting it out the mud. Check the visual above and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
